Combining her love of Judaism and music, Rabbi Leider brings a welcoming presence to multi-generational and participatory services. Encouraging personal growth and connection between people with diverse backgrounds and religious commitments is a hallmark of her rabbinate.

Rabbi Chai Levy has served since 2002, teaching, listening, celebrating, singing, dancing, and playing music with adults and children of all ages. Her spiritual leadership is most guided by the wisdom of the Hasidic masters and Jewish feminist thinkers.

Nancy DrapinNancy Drapin
Executive Director
Nancy is a specialist in nonprofit management with more than 35 years experience in public education, arts and culture, and Jewish communal organizations. After 10 years teaching art to students with learning disabilities in Cleveland and San Francisco, Nancy brought her creative and organizational abilities to the San Francisco Jewish Community Center, where her 18-year career included increasingly responsible jobs in adult programs, public relations marketing and development, eventually becoming executive director. In the mid 1990s, Nancy moved to Washington D.C., where she opened the District of Columbia JCC as associate director. Returning to the Bay Area in the late 90s,  Nancy joined the staff at congregation Sherith Israel, where she served as Executive Director for 10 years. Nancy presently serves as president of the Bay Area Temple Administrators association and also has been active on the Jewish Community Federation’s capacity building task force for membership development. Her door is always open and she invites everyone into her office for a piece of chocolate and discussion.

Hagar Ben-EliezerHagar Ben-Eliezer
Director of Programming & Community Outreach
Hagar worked at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco for 7 years and helped open and run the Taube Center for Jewish Life. She was then asked to help the Marin JCC open their new Center for Jewish Life and worked there for 3 years. Hagar is also a senior faculty member in the department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism department at SFSU where she teaches Non-Profit Management and Fundraising and Foundations and Theories of Contemporary Leisure Studies.

Marcy has skillfully managed the office and been assistant to the rabbis for over fifteen years.

Jonathan EmanuelJonathan Emanuel
Director of Congregational Education
Jonathan brings an extensive history of Jewish education and program skills to Kol Shofar. He has worked with adults and children of all ages for over 15 years, served as youth director, religious school teacher, Israel trip education specialist, summer camp and teen retreat director. Since 2005, Jonathan has worked in Portland, Oregon helping to develop a wide variety of synagogue and community programming for its growing Jewish population. Jonathan’s BA in Sociology with a focus on religion and the media from UC Santa Cruz was enhanced by a year with Young Judaea’s Course in Israel, and additional training at the Yeshivat Shalom Rav, in Tsfat, Israel. His philosophy, Jewish identity stems from a strong “literacy” of Hebrew texts and traditions, experiences, and active engagement with the modern world.

Sara KuporSara Ross Kupor
Early Childhood Family Educator
Sara Ross Kupor has been a Jewish educator in formal and informal Jewish settings for over twenty-five years. She, her husband and golden retriever moved to the Bay Area this year to be close to family. “Joy in Jewish life” and “Deeds of lovingkindness” (Gemilut Hasadim) are two of her personal ideals.
