Last year we looked at how the bible evolved concepts of individuality, leadership and community by intertextual study & key words (Leitworter). This year we will discover the bible’s varied and emergent images of women, beginning with Eve and the matriarchs, and ending with the women of the early prophetic books: Deborah & Yael, Hannah (Samuel’s mother), and Manoah’s wife (who has no name in the bible!). You will need a full bible in Hebrew and English.
